The Fjällräven Classic 2014

I attended this years Fjällräven  Classic, a 110 Km long hiking adventure in Swedish Lapland from Nikkaluokta to Abisko National Park 7-13.8.2014. This year was somewhat special for Fjällräven Classic as an event since this year was the 10th anniversary for the Trek.

The Trek had several checkpoints where you could refill your food supplies and relax by having a cold drink and enjoy a mountain Sauna. Checkpoints were located in average after every 20 Km. Like said  before, the actual Classic started from Nikkaluokta but my trip started from Jyväskylä on 7th of August. After a long day in car we arrived to city of Kiruna. Kiruna is a mining city up in the very north of Lapland. However, we arrived as we planned and gathrered together with our Team and enjoyed a nice dinner at the Trekkers accommodation Camp Ripan. Next morning an early wake up and around 9am our trek all the way to Abisko was ready to start. Other checkpoints were Kebnekaise, Singi, Sälka, Tjätka, Alesjaure, Kieron and Abisko.

After the trek  I started to think about the adventure more personally.
If I go back in time about two years, I would have never thought that I could be hiking over 100 kilometers and really enjoy it. Reason might have been that we all Finnish guys have had the army experience of walking long distances with a heavy back pack. However, about a year ago we did a small trek with my friend in Pyhä mountain ( Finland) and I realized that spending time in nature outside the regural life is very relaxing. Im not saying that today I spend every weekends in the woods but still.. I enjoyed. So after this hike I got some information about Fjällräven Classic and got very excited so here we are.

I won't explain you anything about the photos I took and chose during the hike and the reason is that when you go out there, we all see the nature and the hiking experience in so many different ways. Some want to rush the path as fast as possible and feel the adrenaline. Some want to really take their time in the nature and "go with the flow". No matter the style is, Fjällräven Classic as a event offers a great chance to really enjoy the nature. Everyone understands the basic value by respecting the nature and to "leave without a trace".  I also heard  a lot of talking during the trek. People share their opinions about the trek and their new gear and how happy or dissatisfied they were of something. This just proves that how social event the Classic is and how every hiker has its own point of view of experiencing the adventure. Also the international atmosphere from all around Europe and South-Korea creates somewhat a feeling of being part of something bigger, as a community between people who somehow share same values.

At the very end I want to say that this trek with great people around you with positive spirit is unforgettable and I want to thank all of you!

Those who got interested please visit the website and get actual info about the Fjällräven Classic http://www.fjallraven.com/classic At least I will be attending.
